Say Eow Quah

Malaysian born Say Eow Quah has studied piano and voice internationally. He started his education in Singapore and was awarded the Performer’s Associate Diploma for both piano and voice by Trinity College of Music in London. In the States he studied at the University of Indianapolis in Indiana and Washburn University in Kansas, which led to his Masters at the University of Utah. Say Eow was awarded the President’s Award, the Student Teaching Award, and was listed on the Dean’s List.

In his years of teaching at the University of Utah Preparatory Division, he had the opportunity to teach musicianship classes on performance, theory, private and group piano, and he organized piano techniques and theory for the department. He also works with toddlers as a Kindermusik instructor. While in Salt Lake City, he taught private piano for University of Utah, Salt Lake Community College and Snow College.

Through his years for teaching, his students have learned to love music.  Some of his students have become a church pianist, community choir pianist, school pianist and have performed well in piano competition and composition competition.  Say Eow has a wide range of skills in the teaching spectrum. His students have successfully entered in music schools such as Berklee College of Music, New York University, Boston Conservatory, Yale University, University of Missouri, University of Utah, Utah State and Brigham Young University.

He has collaborated with other artists by organizing concerts with modern dancers and visual artists. He also plays yearly piano duo concerts with colleagues such as Aaron Bertram, where the two have organized and performed benefit concerts for the Fourth Street Clinic and Crossroad Urban Center.
